Hi and welcome to “ArtFullThoughts”.  I am an artist/painter who is passionate about color and loves the Impressionists. My goal is to simply become the best painter I can.

I have thought about creating a blog for a while, but wondered what I would have to say.   I have decided that it just might be fun. Perhaps even insightful for me to write and share. Maybe others will relate and understand what it’s like to have a passion and dream that needs to be listened to and followed.  That is where I find myself.

My journey to this point in time has been scattered. Although, over the past few years as the result of some major life changes I have found myself reconnecting with the artist inside. She is the young girl who would love to sit and draw or paint while the hours would pass by like seconds.  She’s the young woman who then went to college, majored in art, did well, but after graduation chose to take another road.

As I reflect on that time in my life I do have sadness and regret.  At the time it seemed like what I needed to do to “fit in” with the rest of the world.   Now I see it was more about an unwillingness in me to face fear of the unknown and see what I could do with my gifts.  I suspect we all struggle with that from time to time.  For an artist, in my view it’s different.  Maybe it takes more courage, faith and trust to follow your heart and live life from the creator you know is inside. There is no “concrete” path, no guarantees just a need to communicate in a way not everybody understands but everyone can be touched by.

So even though it’s later in life for me and my journey has had many detours, the painter still exists and is on a path of hope. Perhaps this will be an expression of that.

I like this quote from Thoreau. ( I like many of his quotes)  ” Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined.”

Thank you,Cathy

  1. I believe at some point most of us feel lost and out of place, I did and in many ways still do. My writing, the poetry, has gotten me through many tough times, publishing was a goal which I accomplished. My artwork is more for quieting the unrest within. I love you site and will eventually get caught up with reading all your post. E.
