Love is patient.
Love is kind.
Love is not jealous. It does not put on airs, it is not snobbish.
Love is never rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not prone to anger, neither does it brood over injuries.
Love does not rejoice in what is wrong, but rejoices with the truth.
There is no limit to love’s forbearance, its truth, its hope, its power to endure.
On this Valentines’ Day I am giving thought to what love is. I like this verse and am most moved by the reminder that love is not self-seeking. I think the only way that I can love and be void of “self-seeking” is when I love myself enough to know all of me, and accept that I am enough. At that point, I have something to give because I am not in “need”. My motive is free from control or wanting and is full of giving without expectation. I am still a work in progress!
