“If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose.”— Bishop T.D. Jakes
Wow! As I was reviewing my “inbox” this morning I came across something from my subscription to “Oprah’s Thought for Today Newsletter” and this was in the header. It validated so much for me.
I really like the connection of purpose and passion. It makes sense to me as a pathway to success. Success that fills ones heart with all that is good. By nature then it seems to me that within that expression is something equally enriching for the rest of the world.
I can have a limited view of what might fall into the realm of “passions”. I seem to be inclined to more concrete forms but as I think about it people can have a gifts in many areas, for example: leadership, public speaking, organization, motivation, delegating, diplomacy….and so on.
What would the world look like if we all knew what our passions were. What if heartfelt dreams were followed and gifts and talents always cultivated?
I think I know what my passion is but sometimes I wonder. Maybe we have more than one. What gives me pause are experiences that look something like this: Over time, a quality or skill will be repeatedly noticed by others. It’s not something I work at doing it’s just there. A skill is noticed that I enjoy doing but never took seriously or considered to be a gift.
How do you feel purpose and passion are connected? Are they for you?
